Global Organic Textile Standard(GOTS) was developed and published by GOTS International Working Group :IWG, which made up of the International Natural Textiles Association (IVN), Japan Organic Cotton Association (JOCA), American Organic Trade Association (OTA) and the Soil Association(SA). The purpose of GOTS certification is to ensure the standardization of organic textiles from harvesting, to raw materials, to processing and to the final product packaging, in order to provide consumer with a reliable product. This new and unique certification regulation requires textile manufacturers as global standard to regulate their organic textile and garment production, which is an important action to realizing harmonization and transparency in textile label.

GOTS covers all processing, manufacturing, packaging, labeling, trading and distribution of all textiles ,containing at least 70% organic natural certified fiber. Final products can include (but are not limited to) fiber products, yarns, fabrics, garment, textile fashion (wear) ornaments, textile toys, home textiles, mattresses, bedding and textile personal care products.

Standard content includes: raw materials, production process, packaging and transportation, inputs (including accessories, dyes, processing auxiliaries, etc.), production records, social standards, environmental management, quality control (including technical quality parameters and residue examined) and other content.
